Guiding RAY Update: A New Year of Faith and Fun for Our Youth

By Meg Hurdman, Family Minister

September has been a busy month as we welcomed back families and children for the Guiding RAY program year. Our first rotation was an overview of the Bible. In October we will begin the yearly theme of “God’s Chosen People” and focus on the prophet Elijah.

One of the benefits of the rotation model is that we use a variety of workshops to teach Bible stories. The founder of the Workshop Rotation Model, Neil MacQueen, is also a software developer and an advocate of using technology to teach Bible stories. The S. Mary’s membership with Rotation.org allows us access to pro-grams that can be used for computer workshops. We hope to incorporate some of this software into our lessons for Elijah in October, Moses in January, and Esther in March. I invite parents to check out Rotation.Org. If you have an old tablet, or plan to upgrade your iPad, please consider donating your older device.

Fr Nathan with the Guiding RAY children during Family Chapel at 10am on Sep 15

The children had a lovely visit with Father Nathan on Sunday 9/15 during Family Chapel. I have enjoyed working directly with Nathan over the last two years, and I want to thank him for his support and encourage-ment of the children’s pro-gram. I also want to thank Erin for volunteering with Guiding RAY.

All the children, families and teachers in Guiding RAY wish Erin and Nathan Godspeed as they embark on a new life in Louisville, Kentucky.
