Pastoral Care at St. Mary’s

At The Episcopal Church of St. Mary, pastoral care is at the heart of our ministry. It is the way we embody Christ’s love by responding to the needs of our parishioners and community. Whether through hospital visitation, counseling, prayer, or practical support, we strive to be a source of comfort, hope, and companionship in times of joy, challenge, and sorrow.

Our pastoral care ministries are carried out by both clergy and lay volunteers who are dedicated to serving others in the name of Christ. Below, you’ll find information about the various ways we care for one another and how you can get involved or request support.

Our Ministries

  • Community Actively Reaching Everyone

The C.A.R.E. Team was established in 2016 to ensure that no one in our parish family feels alone or forgotten. This team meets monthly under the guidance of our clergy to review the needs of parishioners and coordinate care. Whether it’s through meals, cards, visits, rides, or prayer, the C.A.R.E. Team is here to help.

If you or someone you know is in need of support, please reach out to:
    Coordinator: Lee Snow
    Clergy Contact: Reverend Jane

  • Our Prayer Partners are a dedicated group of individuals who commit to praying daily for the needs of our parishioners, friends, and the wider world. This ministry is a powerful way to offer spiritual support and connect with others through prayer.

If you feel called to join this ministry or would like to request prayers, please contact:
    Coordinator: Becky Pride

  • Our Prayer Shawl Ministry creates beautiful, handmade shawls infused with prayer and love. Each shawl is begun with a prayer and blessed before being given to someone in need of comfort—whether they are graduating, recovering from illness, welcoming a new baby, or facing a difficult time.

We are always in need of more shawls and volunteers! No knitting experience is necessary, and all supplies are provided. If you would like to request a prayer shawl for yourself or someone else, please contact:
    Coordinator: Ginny Stelk
Clergy Contact: Reverend Jane or Deacon Matthew

  • The Meal Train ministry provides nourishing meals to parishioners during times of need, such as after surgery, during illness, or following the arrival of a new baby. Our talented cooks deliver meals seasoned with kindness and care, offering both sustenance and support.

If you would like to join this ministry or request meals for yourself or a loved one, please contact:
    Coordinator: Christie Rana

  • The Memorial Reception Committee offers tangible care during times of grief and loss. By preparing and serving a “Silver Tea” reception after funerals or memorial services, this ministry provides comfort and nourishment to grieving families and friends.

This committee relies on the dedication of many volunteers who shop, cook, bake, set up, and clean up. It is a true labor of love. If you would like to help or need assistance planning a reception, please contact:
Co-Chairs: Alice Brock & Joyce Verey
