Serve with Us

At St. Mary’s, there are many ways to contribute your time and talents. Below are some of the ministries, guilds, and committees that help our parish thrive.

  • Acolyte Ministry

Young parishioners (ages 8+) assist clergy during worship services by carrying the cross, lighting candles, and preparing the altar. This ministry helps children and youth engage meaningfully in worship while fostering community. Acolytes serve during the school year and earn community service hours.

  • Altar Guild

A quiet yet essential ministry, the Altar Guild prepares the altar for all services—Sunday Eucharists, weddings, funerals, and weekday chapels. Members care for linens, vestments, and sacred vessels, ensuring everything reflects the reverence of our worship. Teams serve monthly, with extra care during Advent and Easter.

  • Building and Grounds Committee

From leaf raking to HVAC upkeep, this team maintains our beautiful campus with creativity and thrift. Seasonal clean-up days are a great way to pitch in!

  • Churchyard Committee

This group oversees the care and management of our burial grounds, including the historic churchyard and natural interment sites.

  • Coffee Hour Hosting

Hospitality is at the heart of this ministry! Hosts set out refreshments and create a warm space for fellowship after services. A simple but vital way to build community.

  • Eucharistic Ministers

Licensed by the bishop, these ministers assist clergy by reading Scripture, leading prayers, and administering the chalice during Communion. Training is provided.

  • Eucharistic Visitors

Specially trained and licensed, these visitors bring Communion to homebound or hospitalized parishioners, ensuring they remain connected to St. Mary’s.

  • Flower Guild

This artistic team designs floral arrangements for the altar and sanctuary, enhancing worship with beauty and symbolism. Volunteers work in teams—no experience necessary!

  • Flower Delivery Guild

After Sunday services, members deliver altar flowers to homebound parishioners, sharing the beauty of worship beyond our walls.

  • Lectors

Lectors proclaim Scripture during services, helping bring God’s Word to life. No prior experience is needed—just a love for reading aloud!

  • Kneeler Guild

This group maintains the needlepoint kneelers in the sanctuary, ensuring these cherished pieces remain vibrant for worship.

  • Memorial Reception Guild

This compassionate team provides "Silver Tea" receptions after funerals, offering comfort through food and fellowship. Volunteers help with setup, serving, and cleanup.

  • Office Angels

Volunteers assist with clerical tasks, answering phones, and greeting visitors, freeing up staff for specialized work. A fun way to serve with fellow parishioners!

  • Ushers

The welcoming face of St. Mary’s, ushers greet attendees, distribute bulletins, collect offerings, and assist with seating. A great way to serve with a smile!
